If I stay silent, who else is there to blame? If I see injustice but shrug it off. If I see sin, intentional or naught, but I turn a blind eye then who really owes the payment?
Sometimes there is wisdom in silence. There is wisdom in not commenting on a feed that is full of angry and disgruntled people. Why? Because they aren’t looking for an answer they are looking only to blame.
Sometimes there is wisdom in silence because they have already learned from their wrong. There is wisdom in leaving well enough alone when the price has already been paid.
There is wisdom in silence, sometimes.
But more often then not I have words to speak, words of life and joy and hope and peace. If I stay silent then life and joy and hope and peace go missing. If I stay silent wisdom is missed. If I stay silent…
Well… who else is there to blame but I?
So you see, I won’t stay silent. Not in a world where anger is prevalent and grace is missing. Not in a world where despair reigns and hope is lacking. Not in a world where intelligence is on the rise and yet wisdom has been misplaced. Not in a world where I have lived where others have yet to walk and where my mistakes, triumphs, despair and experience could save countless hearts from breaking.
If I stay silent, there will be another voice who rises up. There will be another soul with the words of Life who is willing to speak. But if I stay silent, I won’t have the words to speak any longer.
“First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.”
